The last couple of weeks I have been taking Este Macleod's course 'Explore Colour'. I have admired Este's work for many years and I was so happy to have the chance to learn from her and how she uses colour, particularly the golden fluid acrylic paints.
To be honest I don't paint much, hardly ever on canvas, and not at all with acrylics so this was a chance for me to try something completely new - always a good idea to push oneself, and I am so glad I did ! I have absolutely loved every minute of it - the course has been the perfect mix of technical instruction, individual help and fascinating unexpected results. And just such fun. I am already using many of the principles taught in my other work too. It was challenging - many times I wanted to chuck a canvas out of the window or paint over it, luckily Este was on hand to suggest solutions and help get over that rough stage. The results from the other course participants have been wonderful too - all so different despite following the same process.
Of the 4 painting briefs I have managed to complete 3 so far. The 4th is in progress...
